Representative Cases

APPEALS:
Appellate representation of a United States Border Patrolman accused of shooting a suspected narcotics trafficker while attempting to cross the Rio Grande River. RESULT: Reversed in part; affirmed in part, sentence commuted by President Bush.

Represented accused bookmaker at trial and on appeal in an international betting operation based in Jamaica. RESULT: Reversed and acquitted on appeal.

Secured a reversal on appeal for a bookmaker which resulted in part of the Texas bookmaking law being declared unconstitutional. RESULT: Reversed and dismissed.

MURDER:
Got a not guilty verdict in a murder case where three eye-witnesses testified against the defendant.

Secured a dismissal of a murder indictment. RESULT: Defendant pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.

MEDICARE FRAUD:
Represented a hospital administrator accused of Medicare Fraud at the Grand Jury level. RESULT: Not indicted.

GRAND JURY/MURDER:
Represented a client in a narcotics relates shoot-out murder at Grand Jury. RESULT: Not indicted.

SEX CRIMES:
Represented a District Court Judge accused of indecency with a lawyer. RESULT: Not guilty.

Represented the Mayor of local town accused of Internet child pornography. RESULT: Government withdrew the charges.

Represented a client charged with rape of a child. RESULT: Grand Jury refused to indict.

TAX FRAUD:
Represented a prominent tax attorney charged with tax fraud. RESULT: After a 3 month trial in federal court, found not guilty on 63 counts of the indictment.

Secured a dismissal of tax fraud case for tax attorney giving tax advice at an off-shore seminar.

BANK FRAUD:
Represented a Bank President in a Savings and Loan Fraud case charging the loss of 400 million dollars. RESULT: Client only served 5 years.

DRUGS:
Represented a biker accused of participation in the manufacture of $40 million of methamphetamines. RESULT: Not guilty of conspiracy; client served only 5 years for a single count.

Secured a reversal and acquittal on appeal for a Sergeant Major who received a 15 year sentence for sale of heroin at a military base.

VIOLENT CRIMES:
Secured a Grand Jury "no bill" or refusal to indict when evidence found insufficient to show client fired gun.
